The Mets defeated the Giants today 3-2 on Daniel Murphy's bottom of the ninth walk off single.
The winning pitcher was Francisco Rodriguez (3-4) and the losing pitcher was Sergio Romo (3-2)
Noteworthy:
Mike Pelfrey looked sharp in this start going 7.1 innings, striking out 5, and only allowing 2 runs lowering his ERA from 4.88 to 4.75.
The Mets were down 1 nothing in the top of the fifth until Luis Castillo (yes, Luis castillo) blasted a 2 run home run into the second deck in the bottom of the fifth.
Jeff Francoeur scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth off a Daniel Murphy RBI single after the Giants rallied to tie in the top of the eighth.
My opinion:
I felt it was a good win for the Mets after an ugly loss yesterday. Sitting in section 124, I didn't think Castillo's home run was going to leave the yard, knowing his lack of power and dimensions of Citi Field but congrats to Lui on his 420 ft homer, his first of the year.
In other news:
David Wright was placed on the 15-day DL with a concussion and will be out indefinitely. This could be the last we've seen from Wright this season.
My opinion:
I feel the Mets should shut Wright down for the rest of the season as they are going no where and I don't want them to handle this like they did with ex-Met, Ryan Church.
The series concludes tomorrow with Joe Martinez (2-1) going up against Livan Hernandez (7-7)
7:10 at Citi Field.
